What is Rust?

Rust is a compiled systems programming language. Its compiler enforces rules about ownership and borrowing, which prevents many memory bugs before the program runs, without needing a garbage collector.

You’ll see it in performance-critical parts of products: desktop apps through Tauri, developer tools, parsers and backends under heavy load. The learning curve is steeper than most languages, so teams tend to choose it when speed or safety really matters.
