Java is a statically typed language that runs on the Java Virtual Machine, so the same compiled code runs across operating systems. It has decades of libraries and tooling behind it.

It’s common in larger backend systems, often with Spring Boot, and in products sold to enterprises that already run Java. It can feel verbose for a small project, though recent versions have trimmed a lot of the boilerplate.
