What is AppKit?

AppKit is Apple’s framework for building native Mac applications. It provides windows, menus, controls and event handling, and it’s the foundation many Mac apps have been built on for decades.

Products that list AppKit are usually Mac utilities, such as menu bar apps and window managers, that need fine control over the system. It’s more work than SwiftUI, but it reaches further into macOS, and the two can be mixed.
